A database of hundreds of millions of chat logs from Chinese social media users has been leaked online, revealing that private records such as user photos and ID numbers have been collected by a government-linked surveillance program, & # 39 a researcher found. Victor Gevers, a cyber security researcher with the non-profit GDI foundation, shared his findings on Twitter yesterday. The surveillance network, he says, follows approximately 364 million online profiles daily and gets sensitive.
