Acestream allows you to stream a video of Peer-to-Peer (P2P) connections. Because it’s a P2P and works like torrents, your connection will be distributed to other users who stream the same video.
If you have a slow Internet connection or slow upload, you can install acestream on a small server and stream it locally from your computer.
The following was tested on Ubuntu 16.04
Install wget and nano if it is not installed
sudo apt install nano wget
Installing python packages
sudo apt install Python-Gevent Python psutil
sudo apt-get install git
Installation of VLC
sudo apt install vlc
Install Acestream Engine
Open suitable sources
sudo nano /etc/apt/sources.list
And add the following at the end
deb http://repo.acestream.org/ubuntu/ trusty main
Install the public key for the repo
sudo wget -O - http://repo.acestream.org/keys/acestream.public.key | add sudo apt key -
Install Ace Stream Engine
sudo apt install acestream engine
And copy git’s AceStream proxy
git clone https://github.com/ValdikSS/aceproxy.git
Set up the AceStream proxy:
CD aceproxy nano aceconfig.py
And change the following:
vlcuse = True video share = 0 videoobey = False videopausedelay = 0
Install Pulse Audio
sudo apt install pulseaudio
Run the stream
I’ll add “&“at the end of the commands if you want to close the terminal and run them in the background.
pulse audio -D system vlc-ek telnet-clock-jitter -1 - Network caching -1 - Out-Mux-Caching 3000 - Telnet password Admin - Telnet port 4212 & acestreamengine - client console & python acehttp.py &
Open VLC or any media player and stream from the following url:
http: //yourServerIp: 8000 / pid /acestreamId/stream.mp4
where yourServerIp is the IP of the server and acestreamId is a 40 character hash.
