Apple announces Arcade, its video game subscription service for iOS and Mac

Apple officially announced this afternoon its rumored video game subscription service.

It is called Apple Arcade and is available in the fall for iPhone, iPad, Mac and Apple TV.

The service offers a variety of video games that can download subscribers to their devices through the App Store to play at any time without being connected to the internet. None of the games will have ads or in-game purchases, and a single subscription can be used without additional costs by up to six members of the same family.

Apple promises that the Arcade has nearly 100 new and exclusive titles. Among them are Beyond a Steel Sky, the sequel to the mythical adventure adventure under Steel Sky, Little Orpheus, from The Chinese Room Studio, Sayonara Wild Hearts, the new Simogo game, Hot Lava, by Klei Entertainment, Overland, of Finji, The Pathless, of the creators of Abz and Sonic Racing, among others.

You can see some short images of this and other titles in the Apple Arcade truck below.

The Cupertino company claims to have talked to several studios and big publishers to publish games in Apple Arcade. Some of the companies that have confirmed their commitment to this new subscription platform are Annapurna Interactive, Bossa Studios, Cartoon Network, Konami, Lego, Mistwalker and Ustwo Games, the creators of Monument Valley. Apple also announced that it would finance some of those developments.

Apple Arcade will be available in more than 150 countries this autumn, including Spain, but the cost of the subscription has not yet been announced.
